Terms
Terms of use
Last updated 12 October 2026
Placecard (placecard.au) is operated by Dr.Inc Labs ("we", "us"). These terms apply when you use Placecard, book tickets through it, or run an event on it. By booking a ticket or using the site, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy.
Our role
Placecard is a booking platform. Each event is run by its organiser, who is named on the event page and in your ticket email. When you buy a ticket, your agreement to attend the event is with the organiser. The organiser is responsible for the event itself, including its date, venue, program, catering, entry conditions and refund policy. We provide the seating, booking, payment and ticketing tools, and help with refunds through the system.
Booking tickets
- Prices are in Australian dollars. Some events have a booking fee on top of the ticket price, and others don't. Where there is one, it's shown with the ticket prices and included in the total you see before you pay.
- Seats you choose are held for a short time while you check out. If the hold runs out, the seats may be released to other buyers.
- Your booking is confirmed once your payment succeeds. You'll see your tickets on screen and receive them by email.
- Please check your booking details. Contact the organiser or us promptly if anything is wrong.
Payment and fees
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Any booking fee depends on the event and is always shown before you pay. There are no other charges.
Your tickets
- Each ticket has its own QR code, which admits one person, once. The first scan of a ticket is the one that counts.
- You may give or forward tickets to the guests you booked for. Treat a ticket link like the ticket itself and only share it with its guest.
- Don't resell tickets for profit or copy them. Tickets obtained or used in breach of these terms may be cancelled without a refund.
- The organiser's conditions of entry apply at the event, for example age limits, ID checks or dress codes.
Refunds and cancellations
Change of mind. Each organiser decides whether to offer change-of-mind refunds for their event and on what terms. If they don't, tickets can't be refunded because you change your mind or can't attend. Where change-of-mind refunds are offered, the organiser's policy applies, and card processing costs and any booking fee may be deducted from the amount refunded.
Cancelled or significantly changed events. If an event is cancelled, or significantly changed (for example moved to a different date or venue), you're entitled to a refund of the full price you paid, including any booking fee. The organiser bears any costs of these refunds, not you.
How refunds are paid. Refunds go back to the card or account you paid with. They usually appear within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. Once an order is refunded, its tickets stop working.
Asking for a refund. Reply to your ticket email, which reaches the organiser, or contact us.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms limits any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.
If you run an event on Placecard
- You're responsible for your event and for accurate event details, prices and seating, and for honouring the tickets you sell.
- You set your event's refund policy. You must provide refunds required by law, including when you cancel or significantly change an event, and you bear the costs of those refunds.
- Payments for your tickets are passed to your payout account through Stripe, less card processing and Placecard's fee per ticket sold, as agreed with you before you go on sale. For some events it's added to the ticket price as a booking fee paid by buyers instead. Payouts are made by Stripe to your nominated bank account. When you set up payouts you'll create a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Recipient Agreement.
- Use guests' personal information only to run your event, and handle it in line with privacy law.
- You're responsible for your own tax obligations, including GST on ticket sales where it applies.
- Give door staff and admin access only to people you trust, and keep login details secure.
We may suspend an event or account that breaches these terms or the law, or that puts buyers at risk.
Using the site
Don't misuse Placecard, for example by interfering with its operation, using automated tools to buy tickets, or trying to access other people's bookings or accounts. We work to keep Placecard available and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for the conduct of organisers, for the events themselves, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where our liability can't be excluded but can be limited, it's limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again. This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and the terms in force when you book apply to that booking. These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
